Alan's Olympic Lagoon

Personally I have not yet defined for myself, to name this person the most lucky - or the unluckiest in the world. Judge:

The Train in which Frane Selak went in 1962, in the inexplicable way has run off the rails and has dived into the ice river, 17 passengers were lost.Selak has managed to come up on the bank, having overcooled, being shocked,in bruises and with the broken hand, but happy because he has survived.

A year later Selak flied by the plane from a Zagreb to Rijeka. Plane's door has torn away and he has exhausted outside. Later some minutes the plane has crashed, 19 persons were lost, but Selak has regained consciousness in hospital - he was found in a haystack only with small traumas.

In 1966 he went by bus when it has moved down from the road and has fallen in the river. 4 persons were lost, but not Selak - he was only hurt and has received some bruises.

Per 1970 he was driving his car when it has unexpectedly taken fire. He managed to stop and get out, before the fuel tank has blown up, having shrouded the car with a flame.

In 1973 during a trip a broken fuel pump has sprayed the petrol on Selak's another car's engine … His only injury: has lost practically all hair. Since then friends began to name him "Lucky".

 In 1995 in Zagreb he has been brought down by a city bus, he has got off only with easy traumas.

In 1996 he was driving along mountain road when, having made the next turning movement, he has seen the auto truck going directly on him. He has passed through a enclosure, has jumped out, has touch down on a tree, and has seen, how in 90 meters below his car has blown up.

What is the end of this story? Certainly, it is happy! In June 2003, in the age of 74 years, Selak for the first time for 40 years has bought the lottery ticket … and has won more than $1 million "Now I shall simply enjoy my life", he says. "Such feeling as though I was born anew. I know that God was watching me all these years". He has told to journalists that he is going to buy a house, a car and a high-speed boat, and to marry his girlfriend. (Selak was already married four times, and has noticed in this occasion: "My marriages were also catastrophes".)

In one week I'm going to a business trip to Milos Island in Greece, and I'm very scared. And tomorrow I will go to work on my own feet.

Recently I found a web site with photos of fatal accidents. I was really shocked. After watching this photos I could not drive the car for few days.I can not imagine how is possible to take such a shots. But for some persons is useful to watch them and after that to learn how to behave during driving.It will be great if it could be invented a more safely mean of transportation.
